Writing again!

Rekindling the Writing Flame

Lost in the maze of my thoughts, I find myself contemplating the direction of my writing journey. Should I continue chronicling my adventures in archery, or should I venture into uncharted territories and explore new topics? These questions echo in my mind, and though the answers remain elusive, the urge to write persists.

After much internal deliberation, I've decided to extend my musings on the world of archery for a few more blogs. The future holds the promise of diverse topics, perhaps delving into the realm of travel or other subjects that captivate my imagination.

2018 – A turning point

As the curtain rose on 2018, my passion for archery teetered on the brink of abandonment. Monotony had replaced the joy in training, motivation waned amid life's challenges, and dedicating hours to practice seemed an insurmountable task. The very essence of archery, once my solace, felt distant.

Then came the call for "Nimes 2018." Indoor shooting wasn't my forte, but the prospect of participation rekindled a spark. The excitement bubbled within me, and the journey to rediscover the joy of shooting began.

In my city, devoid of a proper training facility, I settled for a 7-meter space generously offered by a friend—an obscure, cold place. Despite the adversity, my unwavering motivation kept me on the path, and gradually, I immersed myself in the rhythmic dance of arrows.

The days to depart approached swiftly. Visas secured, flight tickets in hand, we embarked on a journey from Pristina to Istanbul and then to Marseille. A minibus traversed the picturesque landscapes of France, a journey I wished everyone could experience.

Nimes – A tapestry of beauty

Nîmes, an ancient city adorned with a Roman amphitheater, exuded magnificence. The shooting site, hosted in two expansive gyms, provided comfort and ample space for athletes to prepare—a luxury not often afforded.

The competition, however, proved a formidable challenge. While the preceding training days fueled my expectations, the actual competition day unfolded with a discordant rhythm. My shots deviated from the norm, resulting in a disappointing performance. The qualification round itself was fiercely competitive, with the last qualifier achieving an extraordinary 587 out of 600 points.

Facing an early exit, I chose to embrace the city's charm. Nîmes, with its closed Roman amphitheater, still enchanted us with its statues, cafes, and welcoming locals. Skipping a day of shooting, I explored the city, capturing moments, and relishing exquisite coffees in a quaint café.

The swift conclusion of the competition, though disheartening, injected a renewed vigor into my archery pursuits. Confidence surged, paving the way for commendable results in the subsequent months (details to follow in the next blog).

As I pen down these words, it marks my return to writing after a hiatus. The journey recounted here, though centered on archery, mirrors the ebb and flow of life. I savor the joy of sharing my experiences with the world and look forward to weaving more tales in the blogs that follow.

See you in the next one.

Everybody needs some rest

I really worked hard those days, enjoyed it a lot and did improve a lot. Happy about improvements but tired. Training like that for months and months can take a toll on you. It doesn't matter how tough you think you are, eventually you'll need some rest, otherwise your body will fail you. I needed a holiday, I needed to go somewhere where I would be disconnected from my daily life and rest for a few weeks. I thought about what to do, where to go, how to spend my holiday. . . there wasn't anything that did it all for me. Hiking, however, was something lovely which I fell in love with very quickly. It was during these hikes that I would have time to relax, think about whatever is going on and most importantly rest. It is a bit counter intuitive to think that you rest during your hike, but for me it was a very restful activity. My archery season and training took a toll on me, not only physically but also psychologically. I was tired psychologically, I needed to stop for a l...

My First Love

Everybody across Europe loves it, we in Kosova aren't different. As young kids we all fall in love with it and continue to love it for years and years after. Our first great love is Football ! After the war in my country ended, families started to settle on their homes and started doing many different things to help in their kids development. I was quite lucky to live in a city at that time, since the opportunities that it gave us were substantially higher that kids who lived in villages. Among the great things that we had was the football club. The club re-started its activity on the first summer after the war and started accepting young footballers on their football academies soon after. I started playing football for my local team "Drenica" when I was 7, and it definitely was my first great love. Training was a very fun activity and I can truly say that from training to be a football player I have learned a lot of things about human bodies, especially mine. (When...

University

The summer went by very very quickly, my love for archery kept growing day by day, but October came by and fortunately I got accepted into University. Getting a flat together with my best buddies wasn't that difficult, we had some relatives of ours looking for a rented flat for a few weeks before we went to the capital (in my country the biggest and the best University is in the public University of Prishtina). We got the flat, sorted our rooms and patiently waited for the lectures to begin. The beginning of the lecures: The lectures on my departments were given by some very good professors and I immediately started to enjoy some of them. Old English Literature was becoming one of my favorites, the lessons were interesting and they were presented in a good way. The course was created in such a way that we would get the 'theory' first about when some of these amazing works were written, by whom, why it was written, etc. After that we would get a chance to read some wo...
