Like in the previous blog, again I begin by apologizing for not being able to write as often as I would like too. I absolutely miss this but I cannot seem to find enough time to sit down on my chair, think and write these blogs. However, that being said, I don't plan on stopping it. Actually, I have some more ideas to develop my blog or even create a new one (will keep you posted in this one).
After Copenhagen I had a conversation with myself, if I was to continue my career as an archer I had to put my best effort, or stop competing and do it just as a hobby. I am telling you, it's not an easy conversation to have, you have to take a lot of things into consideration before coming to a final decision.
At first I started thinking "was this all worth it?", an answer to a question like that ain't easy to come, you think of the time you spent, the good/bad you've done during this time and you try to come to a decision. One thing I kept in mind during this conversation was the friends that I got to make during my career and the amazing places I visited and in the end I believe that these two were the deciding factors of pushing me to continue my career. Yeah, I decided to give one more push and see if I still have it.
I also had a chat with my family and my coach, probably one of the people that truly helped me to come to my decision to keep shooting was my coach who always believed in my skills. My mom and the rest of my family who've been supportive from the beginning kinda let me make my own mind and I am thankful for that since I think it would have been confusing having different opinions. I am complicated I know.
When you feel down, you need something to pick you up and help you get your motivation back and something came at the best time. "Something, Something" came to Kosova. For those unfamiliar with them, they are an amazing studio based in Scotland who decided to do a documentary with some of the Olympic hopefuls from my country and the history of sport in Kosovo. Being part of this documentary meant being part of history, being part of the new history that my country is trying to write. We aren't representing only ourselves, we are representing generations who didn't have the same opportunity as we do now. Knowing this, I picked myself up and started doing what I should have been doing for months, doing some actual, proper training.
The time we spent shooting this documentary in Kosovo I had a blast, the team couldn't be better. They were interested in a lot of things and I had fun sharing information about what I do, where I do it and how I try to do it. At a point where I was lacking motivation, this was amazing, it helped me push and I am very thankful to everyone involved in this project.
This project happened just before the most important competition in my life, a competition where I would find out if I am 'cut up' for this, or if I am just another guys trying to do something impossible. I was selected to be part of the team Kosova, representing my country in Nottingham, England. This was the European Championship and the final tickets to the games would be earned in this competition.
For me this competition was very important for multiple reasons, starting by the importance of the qualifying tournament for "Rio 2016", continuing with the importance that a European competition entails and last but no least I was about to fulfill a life time dream of mine, I was about to visit The UK. This competition had potential of being the greatest trip of my life in multiple fronts, all I had to do was WORK NON-STOP.
As I am writing this blog, the times is 01:45 a.m., I feel tired and little bit dizzy. I want to keep writing but I am afraid that I won't be able to do justice to the best trip of my life so I have decided to write the story of Nottingham on my next blog.
Stay tuned since I plan to make it extra long, as I want to include as many details about the competition, the city and my feelings.
Cheers until the next one. . .
